Sarah Henderson Integrative psychotherapist , SW6
Everyone experiences periods of stress, sadness, grief, conflict, times when life is simply a bit too difficult; it could be relationship problems, bereavement/ loss, low self-esteem, poor body image, anxiety, work/ financial stress, depression, but not everyone finds themselves overwhelmed by these or that their ability to function in everyday life is impaired by these.
Whilst there are many an unjustified myth out there around seeking help away from a more traditional route of family and close friends, sometimes our own coping skills are simply not enough, family and friends don’t appear to have the answers and self-medicating the pain away by whatever means is running the risk of adding other problems into the mix.
At those times, the gentle support of someone on your side can help bring clarity. Together, we will engage with your deepest worries and explore creative ways of dealing with them.
In our sessions, we will create a safe space, confidential, private and non-judgmental, for the expression of uncomfortable thoughts and emotions, a space to listen to those parts of yourself that have perhaps long been silent or maybe never heard. The ultimate aim of our therapeutic alliance will be to help you find your own resources to deal with problems and life crises, as well as presenting an opportunity for you to embark on a journey of self-discovery.
Based on my training, my theoretical approach is flexible and driven by your particular needs. I draw upon a wide range of psychotherapeutic models from schools and traditions including Psychodynamic, Humanist, Existential, Gestalt, Transpersonal and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), in order to align my approach to the uniqueness of each person I work with and with the issues that you bring
