Existential therapistAbout Me
At a time of stress, distress or decision, meeting with an impartial professional can provide time and space for you as an individual or couple to think, talk and reflect. A quiet space and reflective moment is has never been more important as we collectively navigate the current global uncertainties. Whether experiencing anxiety or overwhelm due to external factors or internal experience unpacking concerns in a confidential space alleviates distress. I have experience providing in person in Notting Hill and central London online therapy across several platforms.
As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I see it as my role to encourage clients to openly explore their lives, their experiences and their challenges. Understanding what matters to the client is my first task as a therapist; to make sense of their experience and help them access the tools with which to live more fully and meaningfully.
I offer individual and couple counselling - providing a safe, confidential atmosphere where clients can talk about difficulties and concerns. Changing the dynamic by adding an experienced ear can defuse a difficult situation, providing a comfortable, safe and confidential arena in which to work things through.
My style is relaxed and warm, attentive to client experiences, emotions and thoughts. The therapeutic process aims to clarify issues in a way that is non-judgmental and down to earth. Together, we will develop a deepening awareness of aspects of life that clients may find problematic or confusing. It is through clarifying anxious and problematic experiences that one to develops a greater understanding of their motivations and themselves. By attending to experience clients come to realise and reconnect with their resources and begin to build on their strengths. Attuning to their emotional awareness allows clients to make better, safer choices and empowers them to meet the challenges of their lives.
I have a wide range of experience, but my speciality is in the continuum of addiction, compulsivity or the various forms of striving, perfection, reward or control that manifests in people’s lives. I take a trauma focused approach to understand rigid behaviour patterns, internal criticism or self-sabotaging systems. We will work somatically to process anxiety and calm negative thoughts aiming to cultivate compassion and internal reassurance; supporting individuals to develop emotional containment rather than resorting to self-defeating behaviours.
I have specialised training in addictive and compulsive behaviours and extensive experience working with anxiety, depression and relationship issues and am a CSAT trained addictions therapist.
In my work with couples, I look at reoccurring problems, explore communication styles and emotional and relational organisation. As an experienced couples therapist, I can support couples in changing a dynamic or defusing a volatile or difficult situation.
I have worked in the NHS, in private sector rehabilitation centres and in the Metropolitan service.
