About Me

About me

I am a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist with experience within the NHS since 2012. I  have experience of working as Senior Counselling Psychologist in an acute psychiatric inpatient ward as well as working within a HIV specialist service and more recently working in a Specialist Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) Service in a Community Mental Health Team. Alongside this I have maintained a private practice with a broad range of clients.

What I Can Offer?

I can offer my clients short-term or long-term therapy, on either an individual or group basis. Based online, I can provide both brief and longer-term therapy work for individuals and groups.

My Way of Working:

At different moments in our journey, life can be undeniably hard. Distress can often be a normal response to difficult circumstances. During therapy, I work with clients to establish a warm and safe therapeutic space where they feel free to express themselves and I can actively listen to, reflect on, and understand their experience. I am trained in various therapeutic approaches, which allows me to tailor therapy to the client’s needs, preferences and personality.

With the right level of support, I firmly believe that people can overcome the problems that they face and, most importantly, develop the necessary skills and understanding to facilitate and support positive change. In this way, therapy can empower people to live more meaningful lives because it fosters greater self-awareness, enhanced self-acceptance, an understanding of how we interact in relationships, and how the behaviours of others bear impact upon us. It also provides a forum for developing different skills and techniques that may help clients better manage various psychological issues in addition to possibly helping them achieve specific goals and motivations. However, this is not to say that all of us at some point in time won’t face further times of crisis or challenge but that therapy may better equip people to confront whatever life may throw at them.

Fees

£115 per hourly session. Fees should be paid before, at or immediately following a session by bank transfer. If your fees are being paid by private medical insurance the sessions are normally invoiced directly to the insurance provider.

Please arrive promptly at your agreed session time, if you are late it may not be possible to extend, and your session will therefore consist only of the remaining session time. If you would like to extend a session the additional time over and above the time booked is payable. If you miss a session the full cost is payable.

48 hours (two working days) notice of cancellation needs to be given once a session is booked otherwise the full cost of the session will be charged.

Training and qualifications

I hold a Doctorate in Counselling & Psychotherapeutic Psychology (PsychD) from the University of Surrey. I am trained in person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural and dialectical behavioural models of therapy. I also have experience of working within a cognitive-analytic framework.
