Ruth Mark-Roland
Integrative psychotherapistAbout Me
I WORK WITH GAY MEN who feel isolated, excluded and prejudiced against. Outside of my private practice, I’m a member of the Terence Higgins Trust therapeutic team, so I’m familiar with the wide range of issues that gay men face everyday. I’ve been on the receiving end of prejudice and exclusion too. As an Indian woman living in a Caucasian world, I understand that feeling of being different, of not fitting in.
YET CHANGE IS POSSIBLE FOR YOU. I’ve seen it happen with many of my clients. Together we imagine possibilities you can’t imagine for yourself. We work in an open, warm, empathic environment to gently excavate the true person you were meant to be and we do it with love, compassion, kindness and humour.
GRADUALLY YOU LEARN TO ACCEPT YOURSELF as the unique individual you are. You develop the courage to speak your truth and live your life the way you desire, without shame, guilt or pressure. At last, you can find your way out of the dark tunnel of distress you’ve been trapped in, and you can let go of the struggle to twist and bend yourself into what other people think is acceptable.
MY PREVIOUS CAREER took me all around the world. I know what it’s like to work in a mainstream environment, and at the same time to feel different and separate from your peers. I learned how to develop trusting relationships with people from other cultures, backgrounds and life experiences and that’s the approach I bring to my therapeutic work.
IF YOU FEEL WORN DOWN BY THE CHALLENGES of living as a gay man, get in touch and let’s talk about how you can move towards the life you’ve always wanted but believed you could never have.
