A recent survey by the Mental Health Foundation found that 65% of people had experienced a mental health problem. If you are feeling mental distress, you are not alone.

I can help with a wide range of problems including anxiety and depression or other mental health diagnoses (including self harm and suicide), alcohol and drugs, relationship problems, couples counselling, physical and emotional abuse, parenting coaching, bereavement and loss.

I approach problems with empathy and compassion, honestly and without judgment.

I aim to guide you through the complexities of life and provide you with tools to improve your mental well-being.

I live in a wonderful rural area and can offer Walk-Talk therapy to take advantage of our beautiful surroundings and the positive impact being outdoors in nature can have on your mental health.

Training and qualifications

I'm a retired solicitor and was accredited by the Law Society as a specialist in mental health, children and family law. The law firm I set up in 1997 is one of the largest legal aid firms in the UK.

I have a Masters Degree in Mental Health law and qualified as a counsellor in 2006 with a BACP accredited Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I have experience across the broad range of adult mental health issues, having worked in GP surgeries, drug and alcohol services and in private practice. I also have a Couples Counselling qualification from Sheffield Hallam University and a Certificate in Mediation.

I offer a £25 introductory session to help you decide if counselling is for you.

Follow up sessions are £45 for 50-minute sessions; £160 for a block of four 50-minute sessions; couples counselling £69 for a 75 minute session. Low-cost sessions for under 25s are £35 individual, £55 couples.
