Rebecca Mackenzie
Person-centred/humanistic counsellorAbout Me
I am committed to offering you a counselling relationship within which you feel safe, respected and fully accepted. Whether you are faced with a specific difficulty, or concerned with a more general sense of something not being right, Person Centred Counselling can be a great support for you in dealing with these issues. The broad aims of how I work are to harness your inner wisdom so that you can heal past wounds, develop as a person, and live your life more fully. The more specific aims of our working will be decided by you.
I have experience of working as a counsellor with adults of all ages, however I have particular expertise in working with women and all the issues which women experience in their lives.
I am trained in the Person Centred Approach, a gentle, non-directive way of working, which aims to put you in the driving seat both in the counselling room, and in your life outside.
I also have a special interest in mindfulness and the psychological benefits it can bring. I practise mindfulness myself, and this very much influences how I am as a counsellor.
I came to train as a counsellor through my personal experience of seeking therapy. This helps cement my belief in the life changing benefits which counselling can offer as I have direct personal experience of these, as well as seeing the positive effects which my clients experience.
