Integrative psychotherapistAbout Me
The passion I have for my work derives from my own traumas and challenges, and how I have been supported through my own journey of deep healing. As a result I am deeply committed to helping others in the same way. I do believe that this is a life- long process which gets easier as we grow and develop insight and awareness of ourselves. I have witnessed much suffering with those I have worked with, and I am always in awe of the incredible transformation that takes place in those who embark on their own journey of self-transformation of which I am an honoured witness. My first ever trainer once said to me, “You can only work with others to the level you have worked on yourself”……
I am very passionate about equality too,and I believe that every individual has the right to as much help and support as their needs dictate, and that they are always treated in a dignified and compassionate manner.
I have been working in a therapeutic setting for over 30 years as a psychotherapist/ counsellor and trainer, specialising in the field of mental health which includes, emotional and physical trauma/ depression, and sexual abuse. I have taught Health and Social care in colleges and universities, as well as setting up and teaching counselling courses from basic to Higher Diploma level. I have also taught in therapeutic group settings, and currently work in private practice with individual clients. I have facilitated many workshops on various subjects including: trauma/ anger management/ depression and anxiety/ loss and bereavement. I have also run workshops working creatively with sound and movement.
My specialisms include working intuitively with complex trauma and post-traumatic stress, using talking therapy ,creative arts, sound therapy/ energy healing and body work. I have a particular interest in how trauma is held in the body, and have spent a large amount of time researching and working creatively to help individuals move through and transform their traumatic issues in a safe and holistic manner.I am a sound therapist , and I have spent many years refining all of my approaches to create an integrated and balanced whole person approach, working with the mind body and spirit in a grounded and holistic way. I offer many different modalities to create a way of working that suits the individual.
I am committed as a practitioner to help provide a professional, safe and compassionate and supportive space for clients who are struggling with mental health issues and in crisis to be able to access the help they need as quickly and effectively as possible.I am very passionate about equality and I believe that every individual has the right to as much help and support as their needs dictate, and that they are always treated in a dignified and compassionate manner. As a practitioner, I am committed to continuing my own professional development, which enhances my work with clients.
