Rachel Bates
Existential psychotherapistAbout Me
Hello & Welcome,
I am Rachel Bates, an existential integrative Psychotherapist, passionate about employing my knowledge, skills, my experience of over 15 years aside from the learning acquired from my own life world, to help bring about healing and restoration to young people, adults and older adults, seeking a sense of meaning and purpose in a life that sometimes appears futile.
I endeavour to encounter the person in the context of how they experience and perceive their world, with no particular agenda but a specific aim to facilitate emotional well-being and cognitive functioning. What I aim for is not merely to solve a problem or change a behaviour but to open new horizons, help people discover new dimensions of their personhood and their life to navigate the path to productivity and fulfilment.
As a psychotherapist accredited with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), I am able to offer my expertise and skills, my experience of working with a wide range of mental illnesses such as Depression, Anxiety, self-harm, Low Self- Esteem, Anger, Shame & Guilt, sometimes resulting with one or more of the following: Panic Disorder, Eating disorder, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Suicidal ideation, Schizophrenia, General Anxiety Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, etc.
As a christian psychotherapist accredited with the Association of Christian Counselling (ACC), it is my passion to help christians confronted by any spiritual dilemma and gain a holistic perspective of their emotional and mental well-being.
I work with people of all faiths and also with anyone who would like to explore their ‘spirituality’ (which may or may not have any relevance to religion) as an intrinsic part of their inner being.
As a professional with a cross cultural background, I am able to help examine and process, the challenges of varied cultural conflicts that may sometimes include racial discrimination.
As an existential integrative psychotherapist I am particularly aware of the existential crisis, the current pandemic has thrust humanity into and I am keen to work with anyone who is looking for facilitative support with bereavement, anxiety over fear of loss, fear of death and/or the pain of isolation.
Working to my code of Ethics and Practice, I respect the autonomy of all my clients and do not impose any of my personal values or views.
