About Me

Hi there, I qualified as a counsellor in 2007 after receiving help and support at a time in my life when I needed it.

We all need to talk.  Maybe you feel that you have reached a point in your life where you feel confused, overwhelmed or unsure what to do next. Perhaps you've reached a time in your life where you need to stop, and look at what you would like to be different.  For me, counselling is about connection, about creating a safe space where you can take time for yourself to explore the difficulties you want to face.

"Life moves pretty fast, you don't stop once in a while and take a look...  You could miss it!"

(Ferris Buellers Day Off.)

Over the years, I have received training in many difficulties, conditions and 'labels', however in my practice I focus on working with 'you' and how your difficulty affects you.

Counselling can be challenging and scary.  It can involve discussing aspects of your life that you may not has spoken about before.  I may ask questions about your childhood and what that felt like for you.  I may ask questions about your sex life which sometimes can feel uncomfortable.  However sex is an important part of who we are and is an important part of relationships that we have.  This is why I stress the importance of confidentiality and keeping you safe in the room.

I will always work in your best interests and with compassion and patience, I call this approach Piscatorial Therapy.  As an angler, I like to spend my time in the peace and quiet of a pond, where I try to make a connection.  For me, building the therapeutic relationship is about making a connection, it doesn't happen overnight.  Therapy takes time to work, and it is you that does the work, you that reaps the benefit.  My role is to listen and offer you that safe space.
