Therapy is a means of exploring oneself – both for personal development and also to resolve personal, emotional and psychological difficulties. It is a way of examining your past and your present in order to decide upon your future. Whatever your emotional difficulties are, understanding their underlying nature can help to alleviate suffering and bring about the process of change.
It is inevitable that at times we will experience difficult feelings, or face challenges which can leave us feeling confused, troubled, isolated and distressed. These problems not only affect us, but can also have an impact on other relationships in our lives. I offer a warm, safe and non judgmental and positive space, where you can explore problems and alleviate distress.

I am a UKCP registered humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Integrative Psychotherapist working with adults over 18. I have broad experience of working in both NHS Primary Care and Private Practice, providing short, medium and long term therapy. I have worked with a wide range of presenting issues including stress, depression, anxiety, bereavement and loss, relationship difficulties, infertility and difficulty adjusting to life changes.
I have completed 5 years of training at the Northern Guild for Counselling and Psychotherapy an accredited training programme for counsellors and psychotherapists (accredited by BACP and UKCP).
I am a registered member of the UKCP and a member of the Northern Guild for Counselling and Psychotherapy, all my work is supervised and I work in accordance with their Ethical Principles and Codes of Professional Conduct. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
As an Integrative Psychotherapist I work flexibly, combining tools from a number of therapies including Transactional Analysis, cognitive behavioural approaches, Gestalt, creative therapies, attachment theory and existential theory. This approach allows me to tailor your therapy to you as a unique individual to help you gain a deeper understanding of the issues you are facing and to support you in finding your way forward.
Our first meeting will give an opportunity to meet me and discuss what you are looking for, to ask questions and to get information about how I may be able to help. For the first 15 mins of the session there will be no charge.
If the relationship seems comfortable and we feel we can work together we will decide together a course of action and whether a fixed number of sessions is required or we want to work on an open ended basis. I usually see clients for 50 mins once a week, but there is flexibility depending individual needs.
