Norma Scevoli
Integrative psychotherapistAbout Me
I am a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor as well as a Counselling Psychologist in the final stage of a professional doctorate training. I have many years of experience of therapeutic work in different settings such as NHS and community-based charities.
In my therapeutic work, I am interested in your subjective experience, as I believe that you are the only person who really knows how ‘that’ feels. I am committed to working together at your own pace, to understand what is really going on. I practice in a confidential, non-judgmental way, regardless, of culture, disability, ethnicity, age, sexuality or gender.
How therapy can help
I believe that life can be hard on us sometimes, and from time to time we might find ourselves struggling. We might suffer as a consequence of our past experiences, our upbringings, work stress, the weight of expectations on us from the people in our lives or imposed by society. This might make us feel disconnected from everyone, even from ourselves and our loved ones.
I believe that therapy can help you to develop an understanding of what is bothering you or causing you distress or upset, even when there isn’t an obvious cause or reason. I believe that developing a deeper awareness of our feelings, patterns of behaviour and our way of relating to other people, can help us to understand what could be changed, and can also help us feel more in control of our own emotions, developing a closer and more authentic relationship with ourselves and others.
I believe that all of us have the capacity to grow and thrive, but sometimes we might feel a bit ‘stuck’, struggling to find meaning and purpose, and we might need a little help to reconnect – or connect for the first time- with who we really are.
Training and experience
My therapeutic work is centred around the needs of the client and I believe that not one approach works for everyone. I believe that every person is unique and I believe that a therapeutic relationship which values and respects that uniqueness, is what causes positive change.
I am trained in different therapeutic modalities: psychodynamic therapy, humanistic therapy and CBT. I work in an integrative manner, adapting the work to your specific needs and the difficulties you bring to therapy.
Over the years I have worked with clients presenting with a wide range of needs, including work stress/performance, chronic and recurring depression, issues around confidence and self-esteem, OCD, hoarding, sport injury/performance, trauma and abuse, anxiety and panic, suicidal feelings, going through a divorce, sexual assault, relationship issues, severe childhood sexual, emotional and physical abuse, chronic health problems, bereavement, interpersonal difficulties, life adjustment issues (e.g. change, loss) and many others.
My areas of speciality and special interests are:
· Interpersonal difficulties, patterns in relationships and feelings of loneliness.
· Concerns and difficulties related to loss of meaning and purpose.
· Anxiety and depression and their association to other difficulties in someone’s
life.
· Athletes and sports performance, related pressures, recovering from injuries
and the impact on the individual’s self-esteem.
· Low confidence and self-esteem.
· Life adjustment issues (e.g. change, loss, separation)
I can also work in Italian if this would suit you better.

Fees
Before meeting for the first time, I offer a free telephone consultation (15-20 minutes) to briefly explore what brings you to therapy so that you can get a feel for who I am, as well as ask me any questions you might have about the process or how I work. If you feel that I might be the right person to work with you, we will book an appointment for an assessment session.
I see clients on a weekly basis for 50 minutes. My fees range from £90 - £110 depending on the time of the appointment, but I do offer a limited number of concessionary slots for those on a low income, so please get in touch with me to discuss fees.
