Nick Caldecott Integrative psychotherapist , N1
I am an experienced psychotherapist in private practice. Previously, I was in-house therapist in a large GP practice in north London.
I tend to think of therapy as an active process. Clients often come with the need to address unwanted thoughts, feelings or behaviour. Change - or the possibility of change - can be approached in two ways that work together: 1) a profound understanding of the underlying context that a client brings to therapy, and 2) close attention to how therapist and client are communicating in the session.
My practice is integrative, meaning that I draw on ideas and principles from a variety of practitioners. But no theory or concept supersedes the learning I derive from sitting with an individual. This is what therapists mean when they talk about tailoring the work to each client.
Prior to my psychotherapy training, I worked as a theatre, radio and television actor. I am interested in working with clients who seek to engage (or re-engage), personally or professionally, with a creative life. I have also worked as a consultant to the market research industry, and my practice includes clients seeking to address impairments in work/life balance.
I recommend a minimum of 12 sessions; I also enjoy working with longer term arrangements. I am registered with the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy and adhere to its ethical principles and professional codes of conduct.
