Prof Natalie McDonough
Integrative psychotherapistAbout Me
I am psychotherapist currently working remotely, providing telephone and online therapy sessions. I primarily work with Person Centred Therapy (PCT). This is a non-directive therapy which takes a positive view of individuals, believing that clients move toward becoming fully functioning through their own self development with therapeutic facilitation from the therapist. However, I often include some elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) if appropriate or if further guidance during in sessions is required. CBT looks at how we think, feel and act and how these all interact together. CBT aims to develop directive coping strategies, to target unhealthy patterns of thought and behaviours.
The initial assessment will be very different to a typical therapy session, as I will be aiming to get to know you and your needs as much as possible. I will ask questions about your presenting issues for therapy and I will also carry out a therapy contract and personal details form for our sessions, along with a risk assessment questionnaire. This initial assessment is about you getting to know me also and deciding if I am the right fit for you, so please feel free to ask me questions also.
My aim as a psychotherapist is to provide flexible hourly online and telephone sessions, with adults ranging from 16 years upwards. I have experience of working with both males and females from ages 20 - 70yrs. I currently work as a counsellor within a drug and alcohol service. Due to this, I have a great deal of experience in working with complex and varying mental health issues.
