Miss Cohen
PractitionerAbout Me
I specialise in helping people through everyday mental health difficulties. I also, specialise in working with people who are living with long-term physical health problems like chronic pain and diabetes. I work with my clients to allow them to open up to opportunities, feel confident to embrace whatever the future holds, and gain direction for the life they CHOOSE to live.
I tailor sessions according to the individual, providing a toolkit to navigate difficult circumstances now, and in the future. I adopt different approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, mindfulness, and more. I invite my clients to work together to establish the best direction for sessions, and continuously check in on what is working best.
Life is going to present many challenges and sometimes, we have clarity about what route we need to take. Sometimes, we are going to be faced with bumps in the road. There is no clear pathway to our individual journeys. Often it feels easier to give advice to friends when they are in need, but how often do we speak to ourselves in the same forgiving, gentle, compassionate manner.
Therapy might feel like a scary idea, but it provides a space to explore and unpack the complexities of life. Our world is fast-paced, filled with craziness, uncertainty, and decisions to be made, without the additional chaos that moving to a new country can bring.
We all have mental health, and in the same way as our physical health, we are all susceptible to a decline. I think this is something that the pandemic has brought to light. It is also important to show people that our physical health is in the best health when our mental health is taken care of. They work in tandem with one another and cannot be managed alone.
