About Me

I offer psychoanalytic psychotherapy in South Wales, and Totnes, Devon, or online. This is a chance to talk through anything that is troubling you in a safe place. Everything is confidential. We usually meet once a week, over a short or longer timescale – whatever you need.

I also offer supervision for counsellors and therapists in Wales and Devon, and online.

If you haven’t come across the term ‘psychotherapy’ before, it is a bit like counselling. I’m trained and qualified to work with unconscious patterns and processes. These can often influence our lives in quite major ways – even though we may not be fully aware of what is driving us. Sometimes, they can drive us in directions we aren’t happy with.

Some people ask how psychotherapy links up with Mindfulness. Mindfulness can work really well for many people. For others, Mindfulness exercises can feel difficult, awkward or even overwhelming. If this sounds familiar, then psychotherapy might be able to help you feel more comfortable being in the present moment.

While our sessions will focus on what may be bothering you in your life right now, my approach is to work with you to see if we can discover your own solutions. We will think together about what you want – instead of me telling you what you want.

Training and qualifications

I trained and qualified in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Guild of Psychotherapists in London. I have been in private psychotherapy practice since 2009.

I am registered with the Council for Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis, part of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I work according to their Ethical Policy. This means I follow UKCP rules about confidentiality, conduct and other ethical issues which can affect this work.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I had many years’ experience working as an adult educationalist and then in the charity sector as a manager. I’ve worked in lots of different settings across the UK, so I have plenty of experience of working with people from all walks of life.

I am registered with the Information Commission. This means I keep your information safe according to UK data protection laws.
