Many of the people I work with have had problems in their relationships, suffered with depression and anxiety, difficulty in managing emotions or have suffered bereavements. Others have work related stress and burnout as well as many other issues that impact on people & their psychological health. I provide traditional individual psychotherapy, often referred to as “talking therapy”. I also offer Eye Movment Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help people who have been exposed to traumatic events/suffered trauma, this is also effective for treating phobias.
I am accredited with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I work with people to help them understand their emotional and psychological distress. My work helps them to alleviate this distress. Though you don’t need to be in “distress” to attend therapy, people also come to increase their self awareness and gain a different perspective.
I know it’s not easy to approach a psychotherapist for the first time. Speaking with a stranger can feel daunting initially, though once you get through those initial and understandable anxieties you can be surprised how helpful it can be talking with someone you have no prior contact with. (This is what my previous clients report).
