About Me

We all experience difficulties in our lives, and mostly we manage to deal with them. However, sometimes we struggle to cope on our own and we feel unable to share our problem with family or friends. At these times, it can help to have someone outside our immediate circle to talk to and make sense of thoughts, feelings and circumstances that may be causing us distress or anxiety.

I offer a confidential, professional, non-judgemental space in which we can explore how to find a way forward. My primary role as a therapist is to listen very carefully to what you are saying and then see if we are both understanding the same thing. Over the years, I have come to trust that this special kind of attentive relationship based on mutual trust and respect can be sufficient to bring about insights and identify meaningful solutions. Within this therapeutic relationship, we can then explore strategies to build on those insights and look together at the effect that this has in your life and whatever difficulties you are facing.

If this is something you would like to explore further, the first step would be for us to arrange an initial session where we will discuss what you need to get out of counselling and whether you feel we could work together to achieve this. If you are happy to continue, we will agree a number of weekly sessions before discussing whether you are getting what you need from therapy. The length of time that therapy continues will vary from person to person, and space is always available to reassess your needs as we go along.

Training and qualifications

I have worked for over 25 years as a therapist and 19 years as a clinical supervisor. I offer long- and short-term therapy, and I have experience working with a wide range of emotional issues including anxiety, bereavement, depression, relational difficulties, stress, cross-cultural issues, work related stress and traumatic events. As a clinical supervisor, I work with individuals and small groups of therapists meeting on a regular basis in London. I am also available by arrangement to work at a distance via Zoom or Skype. I work in English and Spanish.

I am a provider for BUPA, AXA, Cigna and Vitality insurance companies.

In addition to my private practice, I have worked for a number of charities that provide low-cost counselling for a wide range of issues. I have also worked for many years for a bereavement service, which offers counselling for those who are struggling with loss.
