Lara Myall
Integrative therapistAbout Me
** Welcome to my profile, have a read and get in touch if you think we might be a good fit. I do have some availability. However, from now until the beginning of September 2022 I am only taking on new clients who would like to work online. **
I'm a warm, intuitive and integrative therapist. Well versed in the art of surviving and thriving in both corporate and creative industries I offer a non-judgemental space to explore whatever you need.
Therapy with me
My style of therapy is as individual as you - a bespoke collaboration, therapeutic conversation and emotional exploration, offering opportunities to process your pain, pleasure and everything in between. By blending various psychotherapeutic practices I can create a personalised approach and treatment plan to meet your unique needs.
Why therapy, now?
Perhaps life has started to feel tough or you’re keen to address a specific issue. Maybe you’d like to understand more about your behaviours, delve into a past event or find clarity during a career change or personal transition. Whatever your reason, by searching for a therapist you are already moving in a more helpful direction.
What to expect?
Together we might work backwards through your history to move you forwards, whilst also working in the here and now, reminding your mind (brain) and body (heart) of their connection. Through further learnings of self discovery and bringing curiosity and compassion into play, therapy can help you choose to change the way you live your life today.
Therapy, like life, isn’t always comfortable. In any one session you might feel catharsis or joy, pain or frustration, a sense of numbness and any other emotion or sensation that arises; experiencing and being with a spectrum of emotion and/or lack of it is very much part of the therapeutic process. I understand this might sound unsettling but know that I am there, in those moments, to provide a safe, confidential and judgement-free space where all of your innermost thoughts and feelings will always be welcome.
How long will it take?
There is, quite simply, no timeframe for change. Therapy takes as long as you need and so I offer both short-term (12 sessions minimum) or open-ended therapy depending on you and your presenting concerns. Each session lasts 50 minutes and takes place at the same time and place each week. I prefer to work in person, however I am all too familiar with busy work/life schedules and also hold sessions online*.
More about me
I have many years experience as an integrative counsellor and therapist in both University (arts) and low-cost counselling settings working with a range of presentations and not exclusive to low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, long-term illness, eating disorders, bereavement, personal and professional relationship issues, childhood and adult trauma.
Before becoming a therapist I spent 15+ years working in fashion and media, around the world.
