About me
I am a BACP registered child and adolescent psychotherapist (MSc) working with children/ young adults. I currently work across a number of primary and secondary schools in East Sussex and also work with Primary Care Network clients received through NHS funded GP referrals. I offer 1:1 psychodynamic therapy online for adolescents and in person play therapy for children with complex mental health needs. I have experience working alongside young individuals experiencing anxiety, self-harm, attachment difficulties, emotional based school avoidance and abuse. I also have experience in foster placement and legal guardianship. I have further training in neurodiversity: autism/ADHD, sensory needs and PDA. Many children and young adults I work with are experiencing overwhelm and become easily dysregulated. Many of my clients are on the CAMHS pathway. Depending on the individuals age and need, I will meet with parent / carer to discuss the nature of the childs current difficulties, how and when they developed as well as gather relevant background information to support the individual. During sessions, my approach focuses on building a safe, non judgemental and trusting therapeutic relationship, this can often be supported by using play and art materials. Young adults accessing online therapy may like to have art materials on hand. Following assessment and contracting, I provide a child-centered, empathic and creative space for children and young adults to explore thoughts and feelings safely and at their own pace. From here we can begin to understand the underlying cause behind patterns of behaviour and work towards making positive change. A range of coping strategies and practical tools can be practised by the individual and whole family to support emotional wellbeing at home. My work is thorough and provides diligent safeguarding, clinical reporting and parental collaboration where needed to support the child.
