Kevin Power
Psychodynamic psychotherapistAbout Me
I have been working since the 1980's as a private and a publicly-employed psychotherapist in the psychoanalytic-psychodynamic realm both in the individual and group approaches. I worked for 20 years in the NHS in this way.
Most people I see want to speak confidentially with a qualified and experienced therapist who hears what is said and responds to what is not said but hinted, that lies behind or below the surface communication. I work towards open and honest exchange with each person which is the way to seek freedom from oppressive feelings and repetitive symptoms. Working with unconscious ideas and processes via dreams, slips of the tongue, and 'bungled' actions that everyday life accepts and passes over, as well as unusual thoughts and fantasies, helps to illuminate the problems that the client is beset by. This approach can bring entirely new insight to the client's life opening the way to change.
I also work weekly with small therapy groups that are confidential and provide therapeutic experiences that individual work cannot provide.
