Hi, I am Dr Kelly Dickson, and I work as an integrative psychotherapist, counsellor, coach, and academic, I draw on evidence-based approaches to support people navigate their mental health psychosocial wellbeing to lead more fulfilling lives. I am currently working face to face and online.
The evidence suggests that finding a therapist you feel able to talk to and understood by is key to a successful therapeutic experience. I am a down-to-earth, sensitive and non-judgmental integrative psychotherapist working with a range of issues. Ideally, therapy is a collaborative partnership and my style is active and empowering. I see you as the 'expert' in your life and myself as the 'expert' on therapeutic interventions. Together we focus on utilising your strengths and fostering insight and awareness in a safe and confidential environment. I love my work and look forward to helping you improve your mental health and wellbeing
I have experience working with people struggling with a range of issues, including relationships difficulties, career concerns, stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, narcissist abuse, trauma, chronic pain and LGBTQ issues. I also work with more subtle concerns, such as finding meaning, spirituality, and other existential or self-identity related questions.
I help people improve the quality of their lives by promoting self-awareness and understanding, and by identifying and addressing any unhelpful behavioural patterns or self-defeating attitudes, thoughts/beliefs. I practice from a non-discriminatory stance and reflect on how we are influenced/shaped by age, class, gender, ethnicity, religion, dis/ability, sexuality etc.
