Kate Jhugroo
Psychodynamic psychotherapistAbout Me
I work as part of a practice of psychotherapists in Surbiton. I am experienced in a wide range of emotional and relationship difficulties, working one to one with both men and women over the age of 18. I offer a safe, calm and supportive space to talk.
My aim is to provide a framework which will allow you to articulate and process difficult feelings or experiences that you are facing. Therapy sessions provide an opportunity for you to feel understood and supported which can often bring relief and a renewed capacity to cope.
It's important to know that psychotherapy is not a panacea for all ills, however there is a lot of good research that shows that it can help. I would suggest that it offers a place where you can gain insight into yourself, a greater awareness of the different aspects of what you're feeling and what's happening in you. This will give you more choices and make you feel more connected with yourself which, in turn, will allow you to be more connected with other people.
The relationship between therapist and client is very important. An initial appointment will give you an opportunity to talk openly about your concerns and a chance to experience how we might work together. What you choose to talk about will be in confidence. We can think together about what you are hoping for from therapy.
People come and see me for many different reasons, and some of the things I can help with are: relationship problems, affairs, family issues, loss, bereavement, anxiety, depression, work related stress, low self worth, childhood trauma, post natal depression, adjusting to becoming a parent, problems arising from menopause and issues around life changes.
I have worked in the charitable sector and currently work in private practice.
I offer one to one counselling and psychotherapy on an open-ended basis which lasts as long as you need. I also offer short term counselling.
