Kat Christoforou Integrative counsellor , N12
As an Integrative practitioner, I don't believe in one single approach being adequate for all. I draw on different modalities including psychodynamic and humanistic. My approach is not prescriptive, I don’t judge and don’t give advice. I aim to facilitate a genuine, authentic and collaborative relationship where you can feel invited to explore your way of making meaning in the world. I offer a confidential, supportive space to tell your story, where you can feel really listened and heard. I believe in human uniqueness and individuality and the potential to heal and to develop more fulfilling ways of being.
In my view, the past experiences are integral to the present self. From early childhood, we learn to adopt to our environment often at the cost of knowing who we really are. Sometimes the past experiences can be so powerful that they can prevent us from embracing our lives and living as fully as we dare. I believe that clarifying and understanding them from the perspective of the present, can bring change and a move towards personal integration.
I work intuitively and creatively drawing on implicit ways of communications which can help in accessing parts that can be too difficult and too painful to name it and acknowledge cognitively.
I offer short and long-term therapy to adults who may experience a wide range of psychological and emotional difficulties. This may include a current crisis, pattern of unhelpful, repeating behaviour or issue from the past.
