Karen Nolan
Transactional analysis psychotherapistAbout Me
Experienced psychotherapist working with individuals and groups. I specialise in anxiety, childhood trauma, work related stress and relationship issues.
Welcome
Are you feeling anxious, depressed or confused?
Perhaps external pressures are building up and you feel unable to cope. You may be experiencing upheaval in your personal or professional life or struggling with a difficult decision. You may be overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain.
If any of this sounds like what you’re experiencing right now then psychotherapy might help you to explore what’s happening, process your feelings, gain clarity and find a way forward.
Approach
I offer a safe and confidential space, where clients feel accepted, heard and supported.
I work with individuals and groups using Transactional Analysis (TA). This is a method of psychotherapy that emphasises personal growth and starts from the premise that:
- You’re OK.
- You have the ability to think and problem solve.
- Change is possible.
TA is really good for making connections between the struggles we experience in the present and something painful that happened in our past. For example, you may notice the same negative or destructive patterns keep repeating. Therapy can help identify these patterns, spot how you might be sabotaging your own success and begin making sense of this so that you can move forward.
How I work
We’ll start with an initial free consultation to find out more about your reasons for starting therapy and what you want to achieve. The focus of our work together and the number of sessions will be determined by you and what you want to achieve. My role is to accompany and support you on your journey.
I will listen and encourage you to reflect on your experiences, providing space to express your thoughts and feelings. I may offer insights and reflections that enable you to better understand yourself and your relationships with others. My aim is that you will experience a stronger sense of self, greater autonomy and choice, so that you feel more resourceful and equipped to make confident decisions about your future.
I offer both individual and group psychotherapy. To find out more, please visit my website www.karennolan.co.uk
Experience
My work as a psychotherapist began in 2015 volunteering in a busy therapy centre. I started a private practice in 2017 where I see both short and long term clients. The main focus of my work is around anxiety, relationships, loss and childhood trauma. Also, I have special interests in workplace wellbeing, stress, burnout and ADHD. Before training in Transactional Analysis, I had a successful career in senior management. I have worked in public sector, not for profit and commercial organisations. I was a helpline volunteer with Samaritans for several years and currently volunteer with Frontline 19.
Ethical Practice
I’m a registered member of BACP and adhere to their code of ethics and professional standards.
