Karen Gold
Jungian psychotherapistAbout Me
I have worked as a therapist since 2008 with adults and children, in private practice, in schools and in the NHS.
I trained as a music therapist and then as a Jungian psychotherapist, because I believe that creative potential exists within all of us to wrestle with our human struggles and conflicts, in order to live more richly and become more fully ourselves.
I work with words, but also – when people request them - with art materials, sandtray and music. Sometimes these non-verbal forms of expression can help people make contact with their deepest feelings more freely.
I have an interest in mothers and babies who are in emotional or communicative distress, including those who are finding it hard to bond together. I hold the UKCP Child Proficiency Marker, awarded to therapists who are experienced working with children and young people. I also run an analytic Infant Observation group.
I am a supervisor for health, social care and education professionals, and for trainee and qualified counsellors and arts therapists. I facilitate reflective spaces in institutions: non-judgemental, boundaried opportunities for staff groups to think together and to collaborate in seeking creative solutions to challenging problems.
