About Me

M

Welcome and thank you for passing by and taking some moments to look at my page.  My approach relates to an existential philosophy that considers that everyone has an underlying need to lead an authentic existence, as well as striving for happiness, a sense of well-being and developing the strategies that empower a person to find meaning and purpose in his/her own way.

All too often, the crises and stresses of everyday life can result in the manifestation of certain anxieties and challenges that may undermine the capacity to cope, and lead to a sense of being overwhelmed.  Having an opportunity to access a safe space and time dedicated solely to exploring your concerns could help to restore some sense of equilibrium and resiliency to enable you to get back on track, if that is what you require.

It could just be that you want to explore aspects of where you are in your life at a given time. The counselling process is not always about recovering from deep hurts and trauma.  It can also be about self-discovery and developing more awareness that may facilitate your decision making. Whatever the reason might be that is prompting you to seek out a supportive therapeutic relationship, I will be guided by your needs and where you feel you want to go.

The integrative approach to counselling that I follow means that I may utilise a range of therapeutic interventions drawn from several modalities to help you, but this would be with the intention of finding the most appropriate, generally non-directive way of working collaboratively with you, based upon you ultimately knowing yourself the best.

I offer one-to-one, and face-to-face counselling and mainly work with adults and older people. I have experience of working with a variety of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, relationships, bereavement and self-esteem. I am developing a growing interest in working with individuals in the early stages of dementia, and I have undertaken some Career and Professional Development (CPD) in this area.
