Julia Defferary Psychodynamic psychotherapist , SE4
I am an experienced psychotherapist working with a broad range of clients in the NHS and private practice. I offer counselling and psychotherapy short-term and long-term to individuals, practicing within a short walk from Tottenham Court Rd or Goodge St tube stations or Brockley station in South East London. Currently I have afternoon availability at both locations.
Psychotherapy is a process which can help you understand and resolve difficult emotional issues that may be blocking how you want to live. You might be stuck in a rut or feeling very low. You might be experiencing fear or anxiety. You may be finding relationships hard going, repeating the same patterns, or finding it difficult to feel close to people.
Talking to a professional allows you to share the things that may be troubling you in a confidential and non-judgemental space. Examining your inner world and exploring feelings and habits that have gone unrecognised can allow you to create positive shifts in mind and enable change. By looking at your life, both past and present, it’s possible to become aware of patterns and motivations that may have been hard to make sense of alone.
Speaking to a therapist is different to the kind of conversations possible with friends, family, even partners. Psychodynamic therapy is different from many other talking therapies in that the goal over time is deep seated change and personal growth. Meeting weekly at the same time provides a safe, reliable and containing space.
If you would like to know more email me, or call for a brief discussion and to arrange an initial meeting. The initial meeting can be slightly longer and gives a sense of how we might work together. If you decide to continue, we will meet weekly. Weekly sessions are for 50 minutes on a day and time that we both agree.
