About Me

Hello, I am Joshua, an experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist based in North and North West London and online.

Perhaps you are unhappy with some aspect of your life, experiencing a crisis or seeking insight into your unhappiness or anxiety. In a private and non-judgemental setting, I will carefully and thoughtfully listen to you and help you navigate your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

For over 12 years I have worked with people to explore and resolve difficulties in their lives and relationships, manage anxiety and depression or work through a life transition or crisis, enabling them to live a life that feels more genuine, connected and meaningful.

Beginning therapy can feel daunting, especially if you feel confused about what you might need, aren’t sure what to expect, or wonder if speaking to someone will be helpful or if it will make a difference. These are all understandable and normal reactions to have, and it is important to find the right therapist for you - one you can build trust with.

I believe the difficulties, anxieties or turbulence we experience in our adult lives, the way we may think or feel about ourselves and how we relate to others, often have origins in our earlier lives and childhood.

These experiences may have led to unhelpful patterns of thought, difficulties in forming and sustaining relationships or negative or unhealthy beliefs you hold about yourself.

I will work with you to more fully understand yourself, past experiences and relationships and to work through the conflicts and difficulties you are experiencing, offering you the opportunity to gain valuable self-expression and reflection.

Getting Started

If you think you might benefit from psychotherapy, the first step would be for you to get in touch with me. I offer a free 10 minute phone consultation where you can tell me a little more about yourself. Contact me by phone or email to arrange this.

After this we may decide to schedule an Initial Consultation for which my fee is currently £85 for individuals and £110 for couples.

This will be a chance for us to think together about what might be most useful for you, whether short term counselling (for example 6 - 12 sessions) or open-ended psychotherapy would be more suitable.

Sessions are available throughout the week either in person at my consulting rooms in Kentish Town and Highgate or online.

I hold full registration with the British Psychoanalytic Council and am an Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, and abide by their codes of ethics.

Areas Of Expertise

Creativity

I have a specialist interest working with people from creative backgrounds such as artists, musicians or actors.

I have experience working with people who feel blocked creatively or somehow stuck, demotivated or losing interest in their creative process or work.

I will work with you to explore the difficulties and challenges inherent in creative fields, and help you understand and resolve past or present conflicts which might be impacting your creative work.

Fees

My fee is £85 for individuals for each 50 minute session and £110 for couples per 50 minute session.

The fee is the same for an Initial Consultation. I charge the full fee for missed sessions.

I believe it is important that therapy is available for people from a wide range of backgrounds, and I currently have a small number of reduced fee spaces for people who are out of work, on low incomes or studying full time.

Length Of Sessions

All therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. Regular sessions are held at the same time each week.

Training and qualifications

I hold an MSc in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from Birkbeck College, University of London and a BA in Counselling from Middlesex University.

I have over 12 years experience working as a psychotherapist in private practice and within the charity sector. I have a background in education and have worked extensively with students and young adults, as well as with older ages.

I also have over 20 years experience as a musician, songwriter and producer.
