About Me

Hello and welcome to my profile. My name is Jolanta and I am a BACP Registered Integrative Counsellor, working in a holistic and integrative way, both in English and Polish languages, with young people aged 16+, adults and older adults in Surbiton and Weybridge. I offer short and long-term counselling, in person, online and over the phone.

In the last 30 years working as a qualified teacher, learning mentor and counsellor, I have been teaching, mentoring, and counselling young people and adults in further and higher education settings and in charitable organisations.

I have had a wonderful opportunity to work with clients from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds, LGBTQIA+, physically disabled, mild learning difficulties, neurodiverse clients (ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia, and Dyslexia), Down Syndrome and other conditions effecting their academic, social and emotional life.

I have experience working with the following issues: academic stress, stress at work, bullying, self-esteem issues, relationship and parenting issues, hoarding, anxiety disorders, depression, sexual abuse, self-harm, abortion, miscarriage, post-natal depression, menopause, life transitions, personal identity issues, emigration issues, bereavement and many other presenting issues.

My way of working with clients ranges from a person centred (humanistic) and psychoanalytical approach , to a more directive CBT, NLP and coaching approach enhanced with self- compassion Mindfulness elements.  I believe that each person is wonderfully unique and very special and therefore my role as a counsellor is to try to accommodate my therapy to your individual needs, expectations and goals.

During the session I may use, for instance, a range of visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic ways of working such as: art therapy, music, self-reflection journals, written handouts, visualisation, role play, self-compassion techniques and guided meditation and other methods to suit your individual preferences and the presented issue.

I am also a great believer in a holistic way of working with your issues by exploring with you not only your emotional and mental state but also your physiological, spiritual, social and environmental needs.

The essential part of the therapy I offer is a safe, confident, warm, and non-judgmental environment, where a positive and honest relationship between the client and the therapist can be established and nourished.

I believe that commitment to therapy and the self-care are very important elements of any therapy and therefore, I will try to encourage you to do some tasks on self-reflection and self-care between the sessions. After all, this will be your space for sharing and working out the problems that are troubling you and you will decide the pace you want to move at. I am here to support and guide you on your journey.

I hope that this brief explanation of my approach to counselling is helpful. If you need more information, please do not hesitate to phone, or contact me via e-mail. Wishing you the best of luck in your search for the right therapist for you.
