Jo Bullen Family/Systemic psychotherapist ,

I have completed clinical training in Occupational Therapy and Systemic Psychotherapy as well as NHS leadership training. Prior to clinical training I studied Social Anthropology which underpins my interest in the dynamics of human social/relational systems. Throughout my academic and clinical journey I have developed a specialist interest in the mind/body interface and how health and illness are understood and communicated within the self, in relationships and in the wider community.

I have experience working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Adult Mental Health services, Eating Disorder Services within the NHS, charity and private sectors. I work with individuals, couples and families and use an integrative approach when thinking about the models and theories that I draw from in my clinical practice. I have experience working with families where there is a child with a mental health problem or long term physical health condition. I have worked with couples in this setting addressing some the challenges that arise in parenting children with health needs. I have also worked with couples where there might be difficulties in the couple relationship.

I work in a relational, dynamic and creative way with an emphasis on kindness and compassion. I believe in the strength and value of human connection and developing our ability to understand ourselves and others as fundamental to our wellbeing. The principles of thinking, doing and being are at the heart of how I practice.

I am a trained yoga teacher and I incorporate the principles and unity of breath, movement and mindfulness into my clinical practice.
