About Me

I was born in the USA and moved to the UK over a decade ago. You may notice my surname is Korean, I am of mixed-ethnic heritage - an important part of my identity. In 2017, I completed my professional training in London and have since provided counselling within a young person's agency, the NHS and a women's charity. I am committed to professional development to enhance my way of working and have offered my professional skills for free to the NHS Trauma unit at Tavistock and Portman. With years of experience I have come to understand that therapy offers a way to create space for yourself. A space for you to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences with an attentive professional who is trying to understand and appreciate how you function.

I aim to work from a place of curiosity and with an open mind to what you bring. Our purposeful exploration will aim to support you in making clearer decisions, encouraging confidence and hopefully feeling more satisfied in your relationships. My training has at its core an intention to understand relationships, including the relationship being established between you and me so that I may help you use the therapy relationship in a productive way.

I will listen carefully to what you bring and try to build with you an open and honest dialogue which might mean at times I offer you a different way of thinking about something in your life. And if you disagree with me, let's explore that and see if it brings us closer to understanding what is going on for you. If appropriate we can speak about your past experiences and how they might be impacting the present. And importantly, we can think together on how to move forward in a way that feels right for you.

Over the years, I have worked particularly well with those who struggle with a sense of belonging. As a mixed-race woman who lives in a country and culture different to the one I grew up in, I can relate to this feeling. We all have different parts of us that sometimes feel like they don't fit in. I am interested in all the different parts that make up your unique identity.

I am always open to an exploratory chat via telephone before booking an appointment.
