Jennifer Coles Psychodynamic psychotherapist , KT6
Psychodynamic psychotherapy focusses on the powerful influence of unconscious thoughts and feelings. It holds at its core the belief that the psyche is never static, but always actively engaged in relationships, both with other people and with various parts of ourselves.
I have worked with issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, loss and bereavement, feelings of emptiness and loneliness, relationship struggles, domestic violence, sexual abuse, separation and divorce, issues concerning identity and self-esteem, sexuality and gender identity, destructive behaviours such as addictions, eating disorders, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.
Psychotherapy is not about fixing a specific problem – although behaviours do change in the process – rather, it is a quest for greater self-understanding and authenticity.
