Javier CalatravaIntegrative therapist
I like to think that therapy is like a guide that encourages you to see what you may have missed or ignored. I work with clients encouraging different aspects of the personality to find their voice. Maybe we learnt to shut these parts down, perhaps because of their threatening nature or just because they weren’t acceptable to us or our caregivers. I encourage clients to engage with these forgotten parts of the personality to find expression, so they can be heard, understood and validated in a non-judgmental space. It's an invitation to have a more honest conversation with yourself that you can understand those aspects of your life that are causing you pain and dissatisfaction. It’s an invitation to reorganise life and relationships in a more satisfactory way.
I am a trainee member of the UKCP and I am on the final stages of my training as an Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapist (I have completed 5 years of training).
As an integrative psychotherapist, I combine different approaches to therapy as psychodynamic, humanistic, existential and transpersonal approaches, suited to your individual needs.
I have worked in the NHS and also in charitable organisations, with a wide range of clients and conditions.
Choosing a therapist can be difficult. I offer an initial phone call where we will both get the opportunity to find out about each other and ask questions to ensure we can work together. We may then decide to meet for an introductory session, which would not commit you in any way.
