Jane Chugg-White
EMDR psychotherapistAbout Me
Welcome to my Biography. I am currently offering online therapy only (due to the corona virus pandemic).
Please visit my website at www.jcwcbt.co.uk for more details and informaton about the therapies I offer and some advice about coping during the corona virus pandemic. It is very important to take care of your mental health during this time.
I have over 25 years of experience as a psychological therapist, and I am able to offer a range of therapeutic modalities. Seeking psychological therapy can be a daunting and anxiety provoking process. However please be reassured that you are not alone. Statistics show that 1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year (http//www.mentalhealth.org.uk/help-information); and the World Health Organization predicted in 2009 that within 20 years more people will be affected by depression than any other health problem.
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT); an Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) trained therapist. I am also trained in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT); Lifespan Integration Therapy; Internal Family Systems; Humanistic Integrative Counselling, and Transpersonal Perspectives within Psychotherapy.
I have over twenty five years of experience of working in private practice and in patient and out patient settings with a wide variety of presenting issues. I am highly committed to this work.
I am accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP) and an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. (BACP)
I spent eight years working within a Rape Crisis Centre where I offered face to face and helpline counselling. I co wrote the training package for prospective volunteers and also engaged in a lot of media related work. During my time within Rape Crisis and for a while afterwards I was part of an advisory body to the Metropolitan Police (based at New Scotland Yard) on Rape and Sexual Assaults. This was primarily focussed on improving the treatment and services for victims of these crimes. As part of my rape crisis work I also supervised volunteers within the charity I was working within, and also volunteers who were working for a local Domestic Violence charity. I also sat on the local council Domestic Violence forum.
From Rape Crisis I worked within the NHS as project co-ordinator for a pilot project to both raise awareness of Domestic Violence, and to introduce routine screening for Domestic Violence in A & E and Maternity Departments.
After my work within the NHS I began working for a private Hospital within their complex trauma programme. I have worked and continue to work extensively with in patients and out patients suffering with either Simple or Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I also have extensive experience of working with Depression, Low Self Esteem, and Anxiety related issues.
I also offer clinical supervision to other therapists.
I have worked within Canterbury Christchurch University as a Senior Lecturer as part of their Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme and within this training I have also worked as Lead Examiner and Clinical Supervisor.
I have also had a private therapy practice for a number of years.
I am registered with the majority of private medical insurance providers including BUPA; AVIVA; WPA; AXA.
