About Me

I am a Counselling Psychologist with over 20 years experience as a therapist and clinical lead for a NHS counselling, psychotherapy and mental health service supporting clients overcoming challenges and concerns in their lives that are causing them distress.

Things that happen to us in life are not always easy to cope with.  From time to time everyone can experience difficulties that threaten their emotional and psychological wellbeing. I focus on helping people to live more effective and fulfilled lives and find ways to overcome these. Counselling Psychology is concerned with the whole person in areas of their psychological functioning, their feeling and thoughts, behaviour, motivation and relationships. The emphasis is on personal development and growth and working to overcome problems that may prevent this.

I offer a safe and confidential space in which to discuss the challenges you are facing. Always viewing you - the client - as the expert on your life, experiences and their impact on your wellbeing, I will work with you to develop your, and my understanding of your concerns. Together we will explore developing your skills to help you manage the problems you are facing and to support you in moving forward with your life in a manner that is right for you. In my practice I see clients over the age of 18 through to their most senior years and also provide workshops for groups. I offer an integrative model of therapy which draws on a range of psychological approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychdynamic Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Solution Focused Therapy and Person Centered Therapy.

My training as a Chartered Psychologist required 6 years study of mental health, psychological therapies, human development, personality and behaviour. This means that I have attained the highest level of training in counselling psychology and been invited on to the register of Chartered Psychologists and awarded Associate Fellow status.

My clinical experience has focused on working with people with a wide range of concerns including:  Adult Survivors of Sexual, Physical and Emotional Abuse, Anger Management, Anxiety & Phobias, Assertiveness Training, Behaviour Problems, Carer Support, Depression, Domestic Violence, Grief and Loss, Health-related Problems, Hoarding Behaviours, Life Transition & Adjustment Issues, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Panic Disorder, Post-natal Depression, Post Traumatic Stress  Disorder (PTSD,  Relationships, Relaxation, Self Esteem & Self Development, Self Harm, Sleeping Disorders, Stress Management, Life Traumas, Work Stress.
