About Me

I believe that counselling can help us to gain a better understanding of ourselves and our feelings, as it can help to work through some challenging issues and periods in our lives.

Counselling allows you to explore some of your most inner feelings and thoughts, in a compassionate and empathic space, without judgement.

There are a number of therapeutic approaches and I trained in person-centred counselling, which means I work with my clients in a client-led and non-directive way. A counsellor is not there to give you the answers or to tell you what to do, but to support you in exploring your feelings in more depth, to help you to find some clarity.

I started my counselling journey whilst studying my degree in Childhood, Culture & Education in 2006. It was during this time that I became involved with ChildLine as a volunteer counsellor, and later as a staff sessional counsellor. Supporting young people at their most vulnerable points in their lives was a hugely valuable experience and it was this that led me to pursue a career in counselling.

I qualified as a counsellor in 2012 and I have since worked for Mind, for an employee assistance programme (EAP) and within my own private practice.  I have worked with a number of issues including depression, anxiety, bereavement, relationship issues, trauma and stress. I have worked in both a long-term and short-term capacity, depending on the needs of the client.
