Güllü Solak Existential psychotherapist , W2
Welcome to my profile. I offer Counselling and Psychotherapy in Central London, NW1, W2 and E1 areas. Finding a therapist to help through difficult periods in life is one of the most important decisions one can make. Hopefully, this page can provide the kind of information you need to make such an informed decision.
You may be feeling overwhelmed, having struggles at home, work, experiencing a specific adverse circumstance such as a relationship conflict, a breakup, loss of a loved one or your job, or even just feeling more stressed and anxious than usual. These concerns may throw you out of balance and prompt you to seek professional help.
As an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I can offer time-limited and open-ended sessions, to help you to process and address the difficult circumstances you are in. What is best for you can be discussed upon our initial meeting. We can agree on a day and time for our weekly sessions, and they can take place face-to-face or online (phone / videoconference).
Therapy is different for each individual, and my method varies according to your needs. I work from an integrative perspective, combining existential-phenomenology with psychodynamic principles according to the needs of each individual. This means working together to explore your personal struggles and helping you to make long term changes to your emotional wellbeing and relationships. I have over 15 years of experience in the National Health Service (NHS). I have worked in specialised counselling and psychotherapy settings, offering individual and group psychotherapy to highly vulnerable and distressed individuals with a diverse range of emotional and psychological needs. These have also included individuals with diagnosed mental health conditions such as Anxiety, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Personality Disorders.
I continue to work in the NHS with a team of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers and Mental Health Nurses offering specialised assessments and treatment planning. For me this work reflects the rawness and challenges of life, it shows the levels of adversity, anxieties and inequalities which we all experience in the systems we are in.
When we meet, you will be encouraged to talk openly about your experiences, concerns, thoughts and emotions. My intention is to closely listen to what is on your mind and provide a safe and supportive space for you. The work that we do may require me to gently challenge you at times. The aim is to nurture opportunities for personal growth and development.
Short term work usually looks at your immediate presenting concerns and how they impact your life. During our sessions, we will work collaboratively and focus on these concerns so that you are equipped with the necessary insights, tools and resources to enable you to carry on and bring about balance to your life.
There may be times where we need to take a more in-depth focus on your emotions and the earlier experiences you encountered growing up as a child, adolescent and young adult. This usually requires long term work. It explores the experiences that may be causing you suffering and distress and aims to build your capacity to understand yourself and others more and from different perspectives. It may then contribute to reducing the pain you may be experiencing, bring about greater self-acceptance, improved relationships with others and more fulfilled life.
If you think Counselling and Psychotherapy can help at this stage in your life, you can get in touch, and I would be happy to discuss your therapy needs and answer any questions you may have.
