Giovanni Del Vecchio Psychoanalytic psychotherapist , WC1V
I encourage you to be alert to the unconscious. It is a rich landcape, where thoughts and feelings may not be politically correct, but which make up the lion's share of who we are. Not only may we seek to ignore and repress those negative aspects we would prefer others not to see, often we also inhibit our creative instincts that are potentially life-affirming and responsive to change.
I work with patients for whom going through the motions of living day-to-day is no longer sustainable. Some of the reasons for this may vary between relationship difficulties, issues around identity, connectedness, sexuality, anxiety, depression, bereavement, PTSD, difficulties with anger, current or historic sexual, emotional or domestic abuse, family problems, low self-esteem. Some of my patients on the other hand would identify with none of these experiences, but with the desire to develop a more authentic self and with that, the ability to cultivate a more joyous and fulfilling life.
I am in Private Practice in Staple Inn (near Chancery Lane Tube Station) and at the Guild of Psychotherapists in Southwark. Where we meet will depend on our mutual availability and I will seek as far as possible to accommodate your needs and preference. In addition I am also available at the Rock Clinic in Brighton.
Getting started is very simple. I will do my best to get back to you within 24 hours of your contact to arrange an initial meeting. The first time we meet will be for a simple chat to gain a sense of what it will be like for us to work together. There is no right or wrong way for you to approach this, or indeed any future conversation between us, so please don't feel you need to come prepared, or to present yourself in a particular way.
