Psychodynamic psychotherapistAbout Me
Welcome to Petals Counselling and Psychotherapy based in Central London and Harrow
Covid -19 Statement: I am currently only seeing clients online. I can offer either Video - (Skype, Zoom, Whats app) or telephone sessions. Making a connection during this extraordinary, difficult time of uncertainity and isolation is now more important than ever.
Sometimes life can hurl difficulties our way and it can leave us feeling depleted, confused and detached. Therapy can help to restore and reconnect by helping us to explore and gain insight and acceptance. Counselling and Psychotherapy is a safe conversation, where you can speak freely in a confidential space about what is troubling you. The therapeutic process provides you with the security that you no longer have to struggle on by yourself.
As a qualified experienced and registered counsellor and psychotherapist. My experience is broad, I currently work in the NHS and have previously worked in the charity sector in a counselling and psychotherapeutic capacity for over seven years. I am available to help you with most concerns. I trained at Birkbeck,University of London and the School of Psychology at the University of East London.
My training comprises of psychodynamic, psychoanalytic and Integrative approaches ( humanistic, Cognitive behavioral therapy, existential and transpersonal) this means I work with these approaches by tailoring therapy to suit your individual needs. My specialism is psychodynamic therapy which looks at the conscious and unconscious aspects of feelings and behaviour, exploring thoughts and feelings. This way of working aids us to understand ourselves and others by making meaningful connections between the past and the present. It also aids us to understand and resolve what may be concerning or disturbing us.
I also have a special interest and broad experience in women’s health and well-being. I can help with issues in the perinatal period, such as miscarriage, stillbirth, early life trauma, ectopic pregnancy, postnatal anxiety and depression, tokophobia (fear of childbirth), post-birth trauma and post-traumatic stress, welcoming the newborn and adjusting to a new way of being.
I offer both short-term and long-term therapy depending on what is required.
What to expect: Prior to starting any therapy, you and I would have an initial consultation/meeting lasting between fifty-sixty minutes to discuss your requirements. This would allow us to get to know each other better and establish what has brought you to therapy.
