Faye Wilson
Person-centred/humanistic counsellorAbout Me
I have my office in an elegant, old manor house in Hallow, 3 miles from Worcester city centre. The house and grounds are beautiful, and it is a great place for therapy to take place.
I decided to train as a counsellor because I have always been interested in people; listening to them, learning from them, helping them. I love what I do; to be able to walk alongside somebody in their time of need is such a privilege. I currently split my time working in private practice, a women's charity, and in schools with young people.
Personally, I am a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend, and a dog owner. I love loosing a day in a book, the countryside, good food and holidays! I have suffered from anxiety and depression, so I know how scary it can be to ask for help, to speak out, to share those scary thoughts and feelings. I will not pretend that our journey's are similar or the same, but I think it is important for you to know I have sat on the other chair in the counselling room. I found counselling an amazing experience where I learnt so much about myself. I really hope I can help you along your journey, like my counsellor helped me.
I create a safe, warm and supportive space for you to explore your emotions, to make sense of your situation, to re-examine your relationships and think about yourself. We can discuss your life experiences, difficult decisions, relationships, your home or work life, your past, new ways to cope, anything you want.
The Person-Centred approach highlights the need for the client to be in control. I work in a non-directive way, ensuring that we talk about what you want to talk about, at your own pace. This is so important to me, because of course, you are the expert in your own life. In our sessions, I will sometimes challenge you, but I will never give you advice, or push you to talk about something you don't want to. I will encourage you to lead the way, but you will have me walking alongside with you, helping you on your journey.
Sometimes, clients find it useful if I draw upon other approaches such as Mindfulness, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Personal Coaching. These approaches can offer some real insight into the way your mind might be working, and how you have the power to change the way you think. I use worksheets to help us work through these techniques and track your progress.

I charge half price (£20) for your first session (whether this is face to face or over the telephone), as this is your opportunity to come and see what counselling is about, what I can offer and whether you would like us to work together. This first session is a chance for you to test the waters! Research constantly demonstrates that the most important factor in client outcomes is the relationship between the counsellor and the client, so I will really work on developing that rapport with you. I want you to feel comfortable with me and the work we are doing together, I want you to feel safe.
