Art therapy psychotherapistAbout Me
I am an experienced psychotherapist and counsellor working with children and young adults as a consultant and in private practice. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where an individual can express their thoughts and feelings, helping them to manage and contain their difficulties and empower them to make sense of and understand their struggles. I am aware that everyone is different, and therefore place individual’s needs first, tailoring my approach to suit each client using a mixture of verbal, art and dyadic psychotherapy.
I have worked therapeutically with children, adolescents and adults living with anxiety, depression, complex mental health difficulties, disability, illness and adverse life experiences. I have experience working in a variety of settings including schools, the NHS and women’s centres.
Most recently I worked at a domestic and sexual violence charity; working with children and adolescents with complex trauma and suffering with the adverse effects associated with the experience of attachment disruption, abuse and family separation.
I have a special interest and training in attachment disorders and childhood and adolescent trauma. My consultancy work is with children in adoption, kinship and foster care and I also work as a school-based therapist one day a week.
I can also offer dyadic therapy, which involves working with a parent/caregiver and child together. It is a way of working which focuses directly on the child’s primary attachment relationship. The therapist does not become the child’s therapist or the caregiver’s therapist but the relationship’s therapist.
