Emma Lewins
Psychodynamic psychotherapistAbout Me
I am a qualified Psychotherapist who is passionate about talking therapies and how they can help so many mild to moderate mental health concerns.
I follow the Core Conditions devised by Carl Roger’s for Person Centered Counselling which are genuineness, acceptance and caring, whilst incorporating the psychodynamic model. Person Centered Therapy is a gentle approach which involves working through the past with a view to finding out if those memories have impacted on the presenting problems. I believe in looking at the past in an analytical style whilst talking about the present to unlock the reasons for certain beliefs, fears and behaviours.
I am a strongly empathic listener and very person Centered. I have worked with clients who have had a wide range of concerns including stress, anxiety, parenting problems, physical and emotional trauma and abuse. I am psychodynamically trained which enables me to use a variety of tools in the counselling room often using the pluralistic approach of taking therapy as a journey with goals,, using tasks and methods along the way. I believe kindness, gentleness and encouragement of self awareness help the process of recovery.
I am fully insured, rigorously trained , adhere to the NCS Ethical framework for the Counselling Professions and am regularly supervised, this is a vital part of my work as it means I can maintain the highest standards of care. I have an up to date and clear DBS.
