About Me

Whilst we may be able to overcome some upsetting times in our lives, there may be times when they overwhelm us to such an extent that we struggle to see a way past them. These can create feelings of anxiety and depression which can end up affecting our daily lives, relationships, hope for the future and, thus, sense of wellbeing.  Additionally, we may feel hopeless about life because it just doesn't seem to have panned out the way we had hoped or it may be that we never had a good start to life to begin with.

HOW COUNSELLING CAN HELP

If you are struggling with life at the moment you may find it beneficial to work through your problems and feelings with somebody who is qualified and experienced in being able to support you through these times. Whether the negative issues that you are facing in life now have arisen as a result of childhood experiences or something that you have experienced later on in life, I am able to offer a safe space and professional support for you to work through the issues that are preventing you from achieving the life you want to live. Through a safe and confidential, respectful and non-judgemental relationship we can explore the problems and issues you are facing and, as a warm and empathic counsellor, I will work with you to gain insight and understanding into your current situation that is preventing you from moving in a positive direction and help you to find ways in making those positive steps to where you want to be.

I feel passionate about helping you work towards having a better life than what you are currently experiencing and finding ways so that you can begin enjoying your life or even, maybe, to gain a better understanding and, potentially, to gain a different perspective as to what is going on for you at this time.  Often we simply act out our daily lives on autopilot, not realising why we think, feel or behave the way that we do. Counselling can help you understand more about yourself and become more aware about why you do what you do or feel what you feel.  Without this awareness it is difficult to make positive changes.  As you become more aware, you are in a better position to be the you you want to be, whether this involves dealing with past issues that are still having a major impact on you today or working through negative thought patterns, for example.

REGISTRATION

As a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP number 728000), I follow their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

HOW I WORK

I work as an Integrative Humanistic Counsellor, which means that I am trained using Person-Centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt, as well as being trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This enables me to work according to your own individual needs rather than a ‘fit-all’ approach.

WHAT I OFFER

I am able to offer both short-term and long-term face-to-face counselling on an individual basis, as well as working with couples who are going through relationship issues.

Please contact me if you would like further information and/or to set up an initial 30 minute assessment/meeting. This is a chance to discuss how I can help you and to see if you would like to work with me, and you are under no obligation to do so if it doesn't feel right for you.

LOCATION

I am able to offer counselling in both Christchurch and Bournemouth (Winton/Moordown) locations.  Both locations are on the Yellow buses bus routes and both within walking distance to bus stops.  There is unrestricted on-road parking close-by.  Both of these locations are on the first floor and, unfortunately, do not offer lift access to those with mobility issues.
