David Clancy
Psychoanalytic psychotherapistAbout Me
I am a UKCP registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and have been practicing for over 25 years in the NHS and privately. I offer Therapy to individuals and couples. We attend Therapy for numerous reasons, a common denominator may be that we feel lost and hopeless, having tried many ways of trying to ease and alleviate the distress and difficulties we feel without success. Therapy is an opportunity to make meaning of the difficulties that someone may be experiencing by exploring the underlying aspects of the problem and finding real life ways of making change that is both positive and adaptive. Enabling someone not only alleviate the symptoms, but also enrich their lives and relationships in a way that is longstanding. The relationship with the Therapist offers a safe-protected space in which whatever is of bother can be freely spoken about and explored in the context of the therapeutic relationship, this offers and opportunity to understand difficulties within the therapeutic relationship, which I believe makes it less abstract and more 'alive' therefore offering real and meaningful change. The relationship between Therapist and client becomes the place in which difficulties can be understood and changed.
