About Me

Hi, and welcome. Writing a profile is always difficult because I want to be sure I include everything you might like to know. So anyway…

My name is Claire and I am a person centred counsellor which means that I believe that the relationship between you and I is fundamental to the outcome of the therapy. This kind of counselling is lovely and places you at the heart of the counselling. No ‘telling you what to do’ no ‘my advice is’ and no ‘you should’. We work together to determine what you would like to do and even if you don’t know yourself I can support and guide you towards the results you want. These may be past issues which are impacting you in the present, they could be something that’s happening now, whatever it is we can work on it together and make those changes.

There is no magic wand and change cannot happen overnight but it CAN happen.

My counselling journey…

I completed a counselling skills level 3 in 2016 which was the start of my journey. Doing this, I knew this was the right path for me. In August  2019 I qualified as a counsellor after 3 years of training. Not easy by any means but it meant I could do what I do best… helping others.

I spent the next year working voluntary, gaining experience and was lucky enough to have a wide range of different issues and people whilst staying at the charity organisation I completed my course placement hours in.

In 2020 I begun the BA in Counselling degree to further expand my knowledge and skills to enhance my practice. I still continued at the organisation as a volunteer seeing clients at this time. I gained this qualification in 2021.

I continued my education in 2021 by moving on to a MSc degree in Psychology, which again enabled me to further expand knowledge whilst continuing my voluntary client work at the same place. I achieved this degree in 2022.

I took on a role as an associate counsellor for the organisation in Feb 2023.  I feel now I have gained sufficient qualifications and experience to move in to my own practice.

I have experience in issues such as Anxiety, Depression, Bereavement, relationship problems, Domestic Abuse, Abuse in other areas, personality disorders, stress and many other areas.

I rent a room in Blyth, Northumberland for face to face client work. I also work remotely using telephone, zoom or even WhatsApp if that’s the easiest for you.

I work short term, long term whatever length you feel you need.

I am registered with the BACP (MBACP) and with the ICO. I comply with the BACP guidelines for counsellors and with the Data protection act

Thankyou for reading my profile and I hope to speak to you soon

Claire
