About Me

How we see ourselves and relate to others can be shaped by events and experiences, sometimes from childhood. These may have led us to develop strategies to cope with distress and other difficulties. Strategies which can become ingrained, often unconscious, patterns of thinking and behaving. They contribute, for example, to our choice of partners and friends and ways of managing our feelings. Sometimes they are unhelpful, illogical even but we keep falling into the same pattern. I aim to help you to understand what has brought you to this point and how a deeper understanding of yourself might help you make positive and lasting changes.I can help you explore difficult feelings, perhaps linked to issues such as anger, anxiety, depression, excessive worry, low self-esteem, perfectionism, OCD, panic attacks, difficulties in making or sustaining relationships. I have a wide range of experience in both the NHS and private practice which will help us find a way of working that suits you.
Becoming more insightful and having a deeper understanding of ourselves through the process of therapy can bring relief and help make lasting changes to how we feel, think and act in so many aspects of our lives. I usually suggest a brief telephone call followed by initial consultation to see if you feel I am the right person to help you.

Training and qualifications

I have a degree from the University of Warwick. I have a Diploma in Psychology and a degree in Psychodynamic Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, both from Birkbeck College, University of London. Birkbeck is a respected institution for psychology, and the training of counsellors and psychotherapists. I have a special interest in attachment-based psychotherapy, having undergone further training at The Bowlby Centre.

I have a great deal of experience from working in the NHS in Sutton and Merton’s IAPT service for a number of years as a senior counsellor. I have a qualification in time-limited counselling and teach other counsellors how to practice in this field. I have worked as a counsellor at Westminster Mind as well as for the West London Centre for Counselling (WLCC) in Hammersmith and Fulham as both a counsellor and cognitive behavioural therapist. I have also worked at Sutton Counselling in Surrey.

I have my own private practice based in Fulham, just off the Fulham Road. It is a five-minute walk from Parsons Green tube station and a three-minute walk from number 14 and 414 bus stops.
