Catherine CrawleyIntegrative counsellor
Hi, I'm Catherine and I support people through difficult and emotionally challenging times in life, helping them make sense of any issues and problems they're facing and enhance their mental and emotional wellbeing so that they can move forward in life with clarity and confidence and create lasting change.
I began working as a Life Coach several years ago, having trained in Cognitive Behavioural Coaching, supporting women to understand what they truly want in life and discover ways to create positive change in careers and relationships so that they can reach their fullest potential.
My passion and interest in supporting people on their journeys of healing and growth naturally led me to begin my therapy training at the Gestalt Centre where I completed a foundation course in Gestalt Counselling which further led me to embark on a rigorous three year training at Metanoia Institute where I qualified as a BACP registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.
I draw on various tools and techniques from my different trainings to support the unique individual I'm working with, I'm therefore very client focused, adapting sessions to individual needs.
I believe we all have mental health and depending on our past and current experiences our mental wellbeing can fluctuate from good to poor and sometimes all we need is a safe space to talk to someone about what’s troubling us. Through the trusting therapeutic relationship awareness is built and something different can start to emerge.
Before working as a Life Coach I worked in the corporate sector for 15 years and gradually made the transition into what I'm truly passionate about; supporting people with their holistic wellbeing. Over the years I've faced my own difficulties and with the support of a Counsellor I worked through these challenging experiences and so I understand what it's like to be on the other side.
My approach is very person-centred; you as a unique person are at the heart of my practice, your individual goals, needs and strengths naturally guide our work together.
As an Integrative practitioner I draw on many models and techniques that best suit you and your healing and growth. As a Humanistic practitioner the foundation of my work draws on accepting and understanding you as you are, fully empathising with your experience and being open and genuine with you at all times.
I work holistically and relationally, attending to all aspects of you (mind, body and spirit) in the here and now and in relationship with me so that together we can build awareness in a co-created, safe and trusting space where growth and change can organically occur.
Our first session together gives us an opportunity to get to know each other, I value the rapport between myself and clients and believe the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of our work together. The first session can feel daunting but I will provide a space for you to feel comfortable and relaxed so that you can tell me about what brings you to therapy and the difficulties and challenges you're currently facing in life. We'll openly discuss how I can support you and how we'll work together. I will be there by your side on this journey of healing and growth and together we'll walk through your process of change.
In addition to my private practice I also work as a Counsellor for the NHS where I continue to gain extensive experience in supporting people going through a variety of different issues and problems.
OnlineI also provide my services online.
