Cat Edmonds
Integrative therapistAbout Me
Hi. My name's Cat and I'm an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, qualified to work with children and adolescents as well as adults. I know that deciding to reach out and speak to a stranger can be daunting; having received counselling and therapy myself as part of my training I know how it feels to be in the other chair, so I’ll do everything I can to help you feel comfortable.
My work is grounded in a relational, person-centred approach. I focus on developing a warm, non judgemental relationship while also using the analytical aspects of Transactional Analysis and the Psychodynamic Approach. With some clients it can be helpful and illuminating to incorporate a variety of creative media.
I have a breadth of experience of working therapeutically with adults, children and young people who came to counselling for many reasons: severe and mild depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, childhood or adulthood trauma or abuse, bereavement, social phobia, difficulties coping with anger, relationship issues, self-harming behaviours; clients who have faced homelessness, struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, struggled with attachment, have felt suicidal, are experiencing sexual difficulties, post traumatic stress disorder, and with young offenders.
