About Me

Welcome!

I am an American-trained member of the BACP, with over 7 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. I have worked with clients struggling with a range of mild to severe mental health difficulties (chronic and acute: depression, anxiety, stress, trauma), but have specific experience with relationship issues (infidelity, end of relationships, struggles to connect); grief, bereavement and loss; and addiction.

The practice I hold is diverse in terms of ethnicity, sexuality, culture, and gender identity. Thus, I actively take into account the surrounding structures that be, and am mindful of how they interact with the client's current or ongoing struggles.

My counselling style is warm, interactive, and challenging at times. Being non-judgmental, and treating others with respect, sensitivity, and compassion is the bedrock of counselling, and is built into all of my feedback and reflections.

Let's be honest - life can be incredibly difficult at times, and we can sometimes get stuck in persistent thoughts or perspectives that may be inhibiting us from growth. And so, with consent, I may ask challenging questions to help you get "unstuck," and be able to face old and new struggles with an awareness and approach that aligns with your goals, values, and beliefs. My therapeutic orientation integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with a Psychodynamic approach, structured within a Family Systems framework. In a simpler language without the jargon, essentially all bases are covered - from looking at what can help you in the here-and-now, and how to avoid "therapeutic relapse" by looking at how some of our behaviours came to be in the first place.

Finding the right counsellor for you is imperative, as the relationship between counsellor and client is key. Whether you decide to work with me or with another counsellor, it takes courage and bravery to seek therapy -- for the first time, or for an additional round. As such, be proud of making it this far, as you are taking active steps toward healing. From the bottom of my heart, best of luck during your search; and if you decide to see me, I'll be chatting with you shortly(!)
