April JoycePsychodynamic psychotherapist
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with couples and individuals wanting to improve the quality of their relationships.
Couples may come for therapy wanting greater emotional and sexual intimacy or because they’re having the same old arguments that leave them feeling isolated and stuck. They may be struggling with parenting issues, facing the life-stage changes of children leaving home, or are dealing with an affair.
Individuals might be wanting to work through the difficulties and loss of a previous relationship with the hope of enabling more meaningful connections ahead.
The calm, reflective space of therapy allows for feelings and anxieties to be expressed, acknowledged and better understood. I work psychodynamically, which considers links between what is happening in the present to what was experienced or modelled to us in the past. The development of greater self-awareness frees us to make better choices and thereby enable positive change.
The sessions I offer are 50 minutes weekly, both short and longer term. I work with clients from a diverse range of ages and life-stages, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, gay and heterosexual.
